Am I the the only person on the forum who gets woken up by pelotons at the weekend?

I do not need an alarm clock at weekends. I live on the Margueritrute in Denmark. It is a network of small roads that run throughout Denmark which are very scenic, and very popular with cyclists.

My bedroom window is 15 m from the roads and the peletons start coming past at about 8 am. I am laying here and the first thing I hear is the chatter and laughing, quickly followed by whirring of chains and wheels and finally a whoosh of wind as they pass by the window.

By the way, women chatter louder than men. I can hear them miles away.

This will go on until about 11am and then starts off again at about 6pm for an hour. It goes on all the way through the summer.

Im not complaining, its better than an alarm clock.

No only twittering birds here.

My only issue with peletons is the way they envelop you as they overtake on a bend.

My life has flashed before me on numerous occassions as i imagine being crushed by a group of mamils as an oncoming vehicle wipes them out like falling dominos.

Im usually at work at 4am and so a Lie in until 10am is acceptable on Saturdays.
Just drove back from devon yesterday , 200 miles took near enough 9 hours as part of the motorway network further up was shut for 7 hours due to a crash and it back logged the whole trip .

When i was a milkman i started at 2 am 6 days a week .

Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o’clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, eat a clump of coal poison, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah.

Well...when I was a lad...

I don't get pelotons but do get a sprinkling of cyclists throughout the day, everything from commuters, kids on their way to school, teens on their way to play sports, leisure cyclists (both pootlers and the more sporty), and parents cycling with their children.

Haha...bloody cyclists, with their cheery chatter and well oiled groupsets.

Next week, spray some water on the road and listen to them each call out "water" as they pass.

Better still, start selling coffee and cake from your bedroom window, you'll make a fortune!.
