Here I am up the smoke and I was amazed at the number of cyclists I saw this morning. I am staying near Guys Hospital and on training at Tower 42 (Old Broad St. for non-londoners). It is about 1 mile to walk and I counted 189 cyclists, it would probably have been more but I stopped to have a look in Evans at London Bridge.

Anyway, its probably not a suprise to all city folk but it was to a man from the country, the most cyclists I have seen on my commute has been 6, that works out to 1 every 2 miles!

I saw loads out yesterday but I think it is just the weather.

hate to say it but come november you can take 90% off that 189 figure you counted, i liken these summer cyclist to those may flies that swarm the southern states of america...they'll be gone tomorrow or the first sign of a cold morning!

Which indicates that country road commutes are (perceived as) far more dangerous to cyclists.

Surely it indicates that more people live in towns and also if you live in a town you are likely to live closer to your job, therefore more likely to cycle.

PS Check out the basement for bike parking heaven. I'm in Bay 8.

Floor 10.

Didn't bring my bike to town but the traffic and cycling doesn't look too bad. Maybe it was the time of day (8:40ish).

Might take a trip to the basement later.

Okay, you're 15 floors below me then. ;)

Some nice Ferraris in the basement. If you're into that sort of thing.

I live in a town, but have an out of town commute on country roads (average traffic speed 50-60mph) on the narrow single carriageway road which I use ;) )
