Fascinating photographs.
It reminds me of when I'm in the town centre, looking up above the shop frontages at the facades of the buildngs, looking at the architecture and signs of what these buildings were once used for.

That is something we always point out on the Sunday London Rides... always look up.
There is so much to see that is usually missed.

I think the execution is quite clever too. No doubt he could have fettled it to look more seamless but it's the way one roughly overlays the other that creates the interesting juxtaposition.

If it had been done that way it would just have looked like he'd got modern day actors to dress up and reenact things.

Only my view (and god knows I'm no art expert) but I know what I like

Many years ago, someone I was at Uni with always used to tell us to look up - that we were missing so much by only looking around at street level.

Very clever. Sort of scary too. I feel very lucky to live when I do

If you look at old black & white pictures of the Lancashire countryside then stand in the same place you'll be amazed at how few trees there were even within one generation - I guess they all got cut down for firewood or pit props. Now there are mature trees and greenery growing everywhere; much more than, say, in the thirties or earlier.

Very interesting. I really like the concept.

I remember researching some ships that left Bristol, UK, during the American Civil War and photographed by federal agents down at the docks. Looking at how everything was and is now, shows a great many similarities despite the 150 years between the now and then.
