Excuse me language but.

**** me.

That's sent the chills through my body!

I think that on the London underground, if you lie on the floor, in the middle of the track then trains can pass over you. There is enough space for that in an emergency.

That might be complete rubbish, but I swear I heard that on Blue Peter as a kid. I wouldn't recommend anyone testing it out though.

An uncle of mine (back in the late 60s I think) had an epileptic fit in a tube station and fell onto the line, between the tracks. The train was stopped by an MP who happened to be there, and jumped down between the tracks too, waving his hands and jumping up and down to stop the train...

Within stations, the Underground has a "suicide pit" between the rails. As long as it's not been used as a storage area and filled with sleepers, rails, pots etc, you should be ok down there.

You might want to get the current turned off before you tried to climb out, though, the rail which runs down the middle of it carries a few volts. ;)

I reckon she was pished!!!!!

hah. Yeah, I'd be willing to bet a fiver on that

I don't know if anyone on here has seen the Homicide: life on the streets series? There was an episode of that when a man got stuck between a tube and the platform. He was still alive and died as soon as the tube was moved away from him.

That was a particually nasty episode!

Where do the Boston metro trains draw their power from? It looks to have a third rail, but she grabbed it without any harm.

its not rubbish, there is also a space under the platform where you can take shelter if you fall onto the tracks, when i was about 9 i fell between the train & the platform in South Africa,i had run ahead looking for our cabin on a sleeper train & then fell into the gap.my parents didnt see me fall & thought id run off!!! i was lying on the rail & would have ben killed if the train departed.i remember people dragging me out & i was ok just a sore head & lots of bruises from the large stones on the track.I was one lucky little boy!

There was a mental institution at Hatton, Nr Warwick.

If a female inmate went missing, a team of nurses would search the canal tow path. They would more often than not find a neatly folded pile of clothes and a naked woman face down in the canal.

If a male inmate went missing, the team of nurses would walk the railway line until they found the body. It would either be a jump from one of the road bridges or a running jump at the train's wheels for a quick decapitation.

Are you sure that video isn't staged? It looks far too professionally shot, to be unmanned CCTV footage, and the woman's act looks -- well, mighty suspiciously like an actor.

Ah well, improbable that an august news body like ITN (edit: and the BBC too) might be duped. But it can happen...

Indeed, the headline on the first article is:
'Drunk' woman survives near miss with tube train

Their use of quote marks suggests they aren't convinced she is drunk either.

I don't know the system but it looks like there's a power rail on both sides of the running rails. The London Underground has two live rails, one positive, one negative, making them a bit safer. She might, of course, have been lucky with that too and not been grounded for some reason.

Intersting that sex plays a part in the 'end game' as it were, but in this case she wasn't up to deciding on her own methinks. No forward planning required.

That does look a little suspect... like how she lies completely still as the train comes towards her, and then gets up instantly as the train stops. Not convinced.
