I bought some cycle glasses from amazon reduced to £4.80 from £10 and submitted a review and gave them 3 stars and a negative review, amazon has not posted this review for some reason. I don't see the point of the review system if they can dictate what reviews suit them. So now loads of others will buy them and waste there money.

What did you expect for less than five quid? What was wrong with them?

Seems to me the quality of the glasses is not the issue. The issue is whether Amazon give equal prominence to all reviews. I don't know, but it seems a fair question to raise.

There is at least potentially a conflict of interest. If you make your money selling stuff, I guess you have a vested interest in making it sound good. That's what things like advertising and marketing are built on. If Amazon are giving unbalanced feedback, and presenting it (as they do) as balanced, that's worth questioning, no?

Good point ^^^^.

I am afraid that I have a fairly jaundiced view of on-line reviews published by retailers. Reviews on CC that say " Utter crap" or "Fantastic" cut the mustard on the other hand.

It will appear eventually. I think Amazon reviews are pre-moderated for language but they don't have any qualms about publishing negative reviews.

Amazon do censor the reviews. For example if you question why a Kindle ebook is twice the price of the paperback, it won't be published. They also won't enter into email conversation about it.

Although I have seen several such reviews. Maybe they just got too many? They are irritating since book reviews should review the contents IMO. The ridiculous price of e-books (and their VAT rating) is a universal issue.

A week ago Amazon sent me the wrong product - a plastering trowel smaller than the one I ordered - since it would do the job I asked them to refund the price difference. Without discussion they did so immediately.

(..and BTW I have some excellent shades bought for a fiver)

When did you post it? The reviews don't appear immediately, some of mine have taken a day to appear.

Maybe it's unlikely that they put every review up on the site at the same time, if you think about the size of amazon's customer base they must get hundreds if not thousands of reviews for some things.
