I thought grits was a polenta like substance. I have a bag of it in the kitchen unopened since a pal, who lives in NC, gave it to me last year. I suppose I ought to try it.

It'll tickle yer innards. Got any maple sirup?

I've always wondered about grits. Turns out that my musings have been wrong all these years. It's the name, you see. Slightly misleading. Suggests something on which to break your teeth rather than something suitable for when you've broken them all.
