After a very bust week and flying round like a loon hither and thither, I've had two occasions to call at two well known purveyors of hot drinks...

Before I'm too roundly condemned for my indulgence, I would proffer the defence of non-participation in the various foodstuffs on offer...

No, I merely, on both instances of patronising the establishments concerned, imbibed a black coffee, in the style of the 'Americano'.

The real question is this:

A Starbuck's regular Americano, according to the menu, is 11 calories.
A McDonald's Americano, according to the menu, is 0 calories.

So which is correct? I tossed and turned all night worrying about it I can tell you...

The extra 11 calories comes from the phlegm that they spit into it.xx(

Don't drink 'Americano'* , Starbucks filter is better**

*Even the word Americano makes me want to punch the wall
** And it's bottomless, something I'm pretty sure they don't advertise, mrs pplpilot seems to think they do on the menu in hideously small print, I cant confirm I've never re-filled.

Everything has a calorific content.

However MacDs coffee is a filtered produce of the swept up entrails of the prepubescent workers they have in the back sewing the sesame seeds on the buns. #jussayin

Do Starbucks sell coffee? I've certainly never had anything from there I would recognise as such.

If a black coffee has b^gger all calories, and calories = energy, how come we get endergised when we drink coffee eh? eh? eh? *stares wildly at screen in caffeine-induced psychosis*
If you really want an answer to this, it can be supplied....

That is a good point but I am guessing you are energised not by direct energy from the drink but from the drink stimulating you to be energised. In that way if you drink a cup of coffee and it stimulates you to then burn 100 calories then the net result is the coffee has given you minus 100 calories.

A friend of mine has just cut out alcohol, coffee and bread. That is what I live on!!
