I treated myself to a knitting magazie yesterday (mainly for the booklet of baby knits) and discovered in a letter in it that there is a single word in Japanese for "to knit a stuffed toy" - amigurumi. Sounds like a very clever thing to tell people I do....;)

Would amigurumiemu therefore mean to knit a stuffed toy emu?;)

very good! And I haven;t forgootn the emu, I have a scarf to finish, and then I'm on to it. Trouble with scarves is, they go on for ages!

BTW, I have a natural type emu in mind, but if a mad blue rod hull type was required, just say so... It just won't be full size!

A lot of people knit them to hand on bags or mobile phones in Japan... they are sometimes just heads, which is rather disconcerting.

Cool!

You'll note, they are all crochet, something I cannot yet do, although when I get a minute (at this rate, it'll be when I'm 80), I am going to learn. But apparently they can be knitted, if you work out the pattern.) Those are very cute though, I'll have to get crocheting... I like the gnome. And of course, the elephant....
