Amputee cyclist: Right glove to swap or donate with left arm amputee

[@Shaun mod note: Split this post from a 2010 thread in the hope Ewan finds another amputee cyclist to swap with / donate. :okay:]

A small matter. I'm a right arm amputee and I just got new cycling gloves and have no need for the right glove - so looking for a left arm amputee to donate to or swap with. Let me know.

Welcome to CycleChat @Ewan Marshall - I hope you don't mind, I've copied your post from the other thread and put it up for more people to see in the general cycling forum. AFAIK @Tigerbiten is a left arm amputee and we possibly have others amongst the membership too, so good luck with finding someone to swap with. :okay:

Cheers,
Shaun

I did sell a single diving flipper once, thinking someone else would be in the same boat as it were, but only got about 10 pence for it; a pair being about £70. Just to be clear my other flipper was merely at the bottom of the sea rather than anything more drastic like the OP. Anyhow the point is lost single gloves are common enough so a spare singleton isn't totally daft. In a similar vein I did wonder why you can't buy single shoes in odd sizes for the majority of us with asymetric feet. Only a half size and a bit for me, but a mate has to buy two pairs of wildly different sized boots

Hi Ewan and welcome. If you don't manage to move the glove on, you could always use it to challenge people to duels.

(Gentle pish-taking is the lube that keeps the cyclechat drivetrain running smoothly. If you feel it's not appropriate, just say and it'll stop)

Welcome to the team Ewan. Were a bunch of warped pith takers, but our hearts are in the right place. Great to have you aboard.

Can I change the concept.......

There is a Glove Fairy who steals single gloves.... fact

Every cyclist has a single glove(s) that remain from the visit

Simply donate all your single gloves

True story.

One of my coaches was a one armed amputee. One day, during a week long event I was crumpling under the pressure and lost my temper with him. He was built like a brick privy, but I wanted to smash him up.

The exchange went like this:

Him: If you want to fight me, I'll take you on with one arm tied behind my back.
Me: No need. You'll need all the help you can get.
Him: Before we start, perhaps you better check your washing up hands against mine.

I did. One and a half fists of mine fitted face to face with his remaining fist of ham. It was huge like a fencing mallet. Needless to say I pulled my head in and refocused my energies.

So I guess what I'm saying is, you already have my respect. You can have any of my gloves. Welcome to this great forum.

But hold on; if he has only one arm and that was tied behind his back then you must be favourite. ^_^
