Hello everyone, Happy New Year and all that:hello:

Well, here in Bristol cycling city, we cyclists are apparently worse than Hitler:

And we could all keel over due to pollution too:

You couldn't make it up, could you?. Glad to see that the local nutters here are keeping themselves occupied by moaning to the local rag. I suppose it keeps 'em off the streets:blush:

The days when I have to drive in to work I am so happy I'm not on my bike, sat in my car waiting in traffic, still half asleep when I could be on my bike passing all the stuck traffic and getting to work feeling a damn sight better about myself.
The traffic passing under the a370 past Ashton School Park is a personal highlight

I had a lift this morning down the A38 and the traffic this morning was awful - I don't think I ever saw any of the cyclists who overtook us this morning. However it was raining so hard at that point I wasn't that envious of them. When I did get on the bike it was my turn to sail past the queues though thankfully dry by that stage.

quote.....but who wants to cycle in the wet and in cold, biting winds

most people here?

Rain and cold is fine by me... actually enjoy it. Wind becomes a problem for me when it gusts over 40mph...

Haa haa,
Coming from Clevedon (North Somerset) through Bristol (Bristol Council) to Filton (South Gloucester) I have to giggle reading that article. The allowance for cyclist is really quite bad, public transport even worse, add to that equation the conflict between cyclists and car drivers, it really is a recipe for disaster. There are some cyclist that dont help themselves but on the whole, the cycling behavior is very good. I actually enjoy the days I cycle to work, going past the streams of stationary traffic, so I may find it difficult when the weather isnt great, but means I enjoy the summer that much more.
Got to love the mentality of some people. Only in Bristol.

I've always wondered what would happen if the bollard fairy turned up during the night and closed off access to a majority of side roads and back streets.... just how would people cope?
