Five punctures today. Now it appears they are sticking patches on orange side up. They showed a clip where the patches are black and orange so it's not me thinking they have orange patches. No bloody wonder they had 5 punctures.

5 punctures in a day is more than unfortunate. Unless they are in thorn bush country it sounds like have left the culprit in the tyres. Understandable given the levels of exhaustion they must have.

I did wonder whether they're not checking the tyres at the end of each day due to the weight of their kit and tiredness? Flints / glass / thorns then could slowly work through given the miles they're doing.

No punctures reported in the latest just the heat. Maybe they might have been better planning slightly longer days in cooler climates than doing 172 miles when it hits 37.

Those distances every day are just staggering. Keeping hydrated must be a significant challenge as must keeping positive along the straight prairie roads. The toll on bodies and bikes is remarkable. Chapeau to them and Pinarello, perhaps not Panaracer!

I think they might be picking metal bits up, When the Kohlers we're doing their around the world challenge in the states plus elsewhere they had similar issue. I think they were running marathon plus tyres.

The issue is they are using major roads, and riding close to the gutter, or at the sides, where the road won't get swept by tyres etc. A down side of picking the quickest roads, but needs must.

Amy is struggling with people's comments on her profiles about her eating (too much/too little/wrong stuff. Massive down side of having a 'profile' and the internet trolls out there, especially as she is recovering from an eating disorder - you can see she still struggles by posting pictures of her food as it is.

That’s sad, she comes across as very genuine and has demonstrated incredible mental toughness on this trip and her TdF last year. I’m impressed with them both making the transition from the sorts of cycling many of us do to full on athletes which most of us aren’t.

They are still busy plodding on long boring roads/hotels/ etc and keeping on. Bike service next day or so, let's hope it goes OK. New drive chain by now, rings cassette and chain..

I couldn't ride roads like this every day... It's bad enough a 2 mile straight line in my head.

I was very impressed when Amy cycled the whole of the TdeF route last year.

This round the world record attempt is a huge step up even from that, and it is a truly magnificent effort by both of them. I am enjoying the daily update Youtube shorts.

Anyone trolling either of them about eating / puncture mending / whatever can get in the sea.

Mark Beaumont had some interesting things to say about his 78 day record and motivation to get going each day for 16 hours riding. Then when it was done, no motivation at all get on bike.

Just to show how unpopular some of those dead straight roads are Amys QoM yesterday was on one with only 6 other riders listed including Kyle and al the others were men.
