He was talking about the punctures though.

So he was! Now that is very frequent

I don’t, but it is not an outrageous number. Some are not so good at avoiding potholes or gravel on corners. Plus you have to remember their bikes were 35kg, more than half their weight. Bit like a super tanker and no easy to avoid things and easy to overcook corners.
28kg I think for Amy's set up and that's pretty lightweight in the world of cycle touring, even if it was ultra long distance cycle touring, no reason to be overcooking corners or riding into things 😂

My interpretation of at least three of their falls was that whoever was in front braked and whoever was following was too close to stop. That will have been exacerbated by the horrific weight of the bikes (covered in unused sleeping kit, tools, and duplicate medical kit).
"Horrific weight of the bikes" , clearly you've never been cycle touring, a 12 kg bike and 16kg luggage is pretty lightweight.

They are quite heavy bikes though and some of the roads were gravel etc...
Well, they are gravel bikes.

That is not lightweight. Lightweight touring setups have about 6kg of luggage, not 16kg!

Pretty lightweight when your used to carrying four panniers and full camping gear plus food, coming in at 30kg+ for the luggage and 16kg for the bike.

6kg luggage would be in the ultralight category, or the 'credit card' touring caregory.
