A new one for me on my short stroll from work to the Metro station this evening...

There is a pelican crossing en route which I was half way across when I noticed the car at the front of the queue rolling into my path. An elderly lady was behind the wheel, but looking down distracted by her mobile phone. Somewhat alarmed I let out a startled "Whoah! Watch what you're doing!" and was greeted with a scowl and a barrage of abuse as she slammed her brakes on.

I walked round behind her car and continued on my way. We met again at the next set of lights and she clearly wasn't finished with me as she pulled onto the pavement, got out and walked up to me, poking her finger into my face and yelling, eventually progressing to hitting me in the chest! It was so surreal I started laughing as I told her to calm down. Eventually she did and said "I'll be looking out for you sonny!" before getting back in her car and driving off (through a red light).

I'm not sure I've ever experienced anything so weird or ridiculous whilst doing something as mundane as walking down a stretch of pavement.
Ah, you've met my mother-in-law then...

I had to laugh last week, when a pensioner on a mobility scooter was having a go at the 17 year lad who work for us (old bean pole physique). We had a fire alarm and the escape route is round the building on the footway. 50odd of us from this side of the building headed out but typical of the 17year old he managed to walk out in front of an old man on the scooter who ran over his foot and argument between them started

It sounds to me like she got a scare and rather than admit it was her actions that both frightened her and nearly caused you harm, she took the only other route available to her and vented her fear on you in the form of aggression. This doesn't excuse her behaviour but it perhaps offers an explanation. If it weren't for mobile I'd be tempted to let it go, after all everyone's capable of making mistakes, but the mobile phone is unacceptable to me. We might all make mistakes, but we chose to break the law, and by using a mobile at the wheel she choses to put others in danger in an illegal way. I'm glad you reported her.

Yeah that's pretty much my take on it too.
