That is true, I sent her for the leg warmers after reading stuff in Cycling Active, like you need 75% duck down full length pants if it's below 18c. I like to cycle when it's cold and never feel it, but yep, I fell for the safety/health spiel. Anyway...........the arm warmers don't fit my legs but my dongle has been warm all week.
Which doesn't work going downhill ... If you get cold on a fast descent, you can't pedal hard enough to get warm, unless you simultaneously apply the brakes, which would be rather silly!
As for slowing down to reduce the windchill ... a 6 mile descent at 4 mph takes an hour and a half!
Just to correct the arithmetic here: if you have an arm and a leg i.e. one of each then you only need one arm warmer and one leg warmer making the total cost £40 which I guess is still an arm and a leg.
