An enjoyable afternoon.

I was feeling guilty that this old girl had been languishing, unloved in the garage - rusty and seized chain, flat tyres, graunching rear hub, etc.

Anyway, a rare day off but raining, so I spent the afternoon getting her shipshape again. Going to be sunny tomorrow, so a test ride and then she'll get a good wash.

Was forced to remember today how much I hate adjusting centre pull brakes!

Nice, it doesn't look like it needed too much tlc.
I take it that the front fork is a replacement, what's the story there?

I'm ashamed to say it was pretty bad - the chain was so rusty I had to slather it in 3 in 1 and then manipulate every link with two pairs of pliers. Somehow the chainring had got bent as well - we've moved house, so it probably got bashed by the cowboy removal firm.

I bought the bike about 6 or 7 years ago, and didn't think to ask about the mismatched fork - I think it looks nice though!

Absolutely - we were living in a very hilly town and the high gearing was too much for me! A bit flatter where we are now, so will get used more

All shiny now and drying the cloth tape in the sun, while I enjoy a Guinness Zero before the test ride.
