+1 on Merlin.

They don't have much in the way of a low cost gravel frame unless wanting cantilever brakes. They do have an almost half price Bianchi disc brake gravel bike at £600 though

Looks nice and good value for money.

Has anyone ever tried to repaint a frameset? Complete newbie question: to get a good result can you just paint over it or do you need to remove the original paint and then prime/paint again?
I have done a few, always removing the old paint, then primer, paint, varnish all with rattle cans, a lot of effort and far better to get someone else to do it.
I took one to a car wheel restorer last year £50 for frame and forks and a cracking job.

My mate has a merlin with discs he got for about 600 ish hence the mention plus I know a lad who works there and the support is always good.

Although I cant be doing with discs. I've got a trek Crockett with cantis. If the OP saw one of those about I can recommend as a good all around bike.
