Arriving back home from work this evening in awful weather (fog and drizzle, standing water everywhere) when I got the bike round the back of my house noticed I had lost my rear light. Had a look around thinking I had knocked it off manhandling the bike through the side passage but no sign of it, which means it must have come off somewhere on the journey home. The most likely place this could have happened is on the one mile stretch of off road byway. If this is the case this means I had been cycling for a little over six miles on unlit country lanes in fog and continuous rain without a rear light! I'm surprised I didn't get any drivers hooting at me. Fortunately I did have some lighting in the form of flashing green lights on the valve caps so at least had something to grab a drivers attention.
I've had this particular brand of rear light for many years and have not had this happen before. I think I will now put a flashing rear Reelight on the back as a backup.
