An unusual cyclepath obstruction.....

An unusual one - Fareham and Crofton Cricket Club setting up their tables on the cycle path.... but apparently its OK because they "Only block the pedestrian part!"

The woman was also most indignant that it was their right to obstruct the path as it is "Where they play Cricket"

A massive park and they have to set up on the path - not the most intelligent of moves.

Apologies for quality - from an old phone

Were the tables for serving the teas from? Just grab a sarnie as you pass...

I'd be more worried about getting a 6...

on the same basis that a potential 'scalp' can generate a phantom 33% increase in power-output for the non-serious cyclist, using a passing cyclist as a target can improve the hand-eye coordination of a batsman 10 fold.

I had a few kids messing about on a cyclepath I was riding on the other day.

Was being so careful watching where they were going, I almost didnt notice the plastic ramp they put in the middle of the cycletrack!

Was tempted to jump it, but noticed it too late! :welcome:

Your style of comments reminded me of a Bristol Blog I have started following...

http://bristolcars.blogspot.com/

who have a tongue in cheek style of reporting about the traffic in Bristol and all the obstructions that they create.

Just spent the last hour reading that blog - its fab, thanks for sharing it.

I didn't know about the Bristol Bike Project (why would I? I'm in Winch) but its such a good idea. Well done them!

Interesting blog. They are wrong about zebra crossings. You aren't allowed to cycle over them and there's not a lot you can do about it. Some planners view them as the only justified dismount signs out there. The problem arises as zebra crossings aren't easy to uproute and replace with something else. You are however allowed to cycle 6 inches to their left.

While it's true about zebra crossings, it's their other question that is relevant. Is that a zebra crossing? No belisha beacon, no zig zag lines.... I see there is a pedestrian crossing sign, but you see them where there isn't a zebra...

There is a few crossings with traffic lights in Stevenage that are specifically designed for bikes as well as pedestrians. Basically takes a shared pavement/cycletrack across a road.
