Totally sympathise. When trying leave work every night, there's always someone rushing up to the red-light only 30 metres away, or queue of cars thus held, WHO WILL NOT LET ME THROUGH to cycle in opposite direction.
Got my hi-vis and ebay£30Cree on, so no excuse for not seeing me. Just being dumbasses.

I came across some pretty annoying poor road users on the way home tonight... didn't affect me as I was on the bike, but I was annoyed for the other drivers.

There were roadworks on approach to a roundabout where there is always a queue at rush hour. The roadworks were where the queue would normally sit and the side of the road coming off the roundabout was closed, with lights in place making it single file.

Obviously a green light means you MUST go rather than hold back and wait for the queue of traffic ahead of you blocking the road to clear first.

Not a single car coming the other direction could get through their phase of the lights. Probably multiple times.

Traffic chaos everywhere. Glad I was on a bike.

Just the way it is with very busy roads. You have to remember there is a generation that have grown up used to driving in long queues and on autopilot.

This kind of stuff is one of the reasons I don't like driving in the UK these days.

Do yellow hatched lines have a different meaning in Oz?
Not at all. Using the road is about sharing space, and concession is essential. I have no problem at all with enabling a vehicle to rejoin a queue of crawling traffic. And I'd hope for nothing less from others. I've learned not to expect it though, given some of disappointing attitudes lived out on the tarmac.
"one in, one out" in crawling traffic, thats what my instructor taught me.

I'm pretty sure it's not in Oz, note that the traffic is on the right. I don't know where it is, actually, but having seen it before I just couldn't resist sharing it!. As 2Loose said, it reminds me of why cycling is preferable to driving.
