.....I finally remove an old phone that fell in a hole where the handbrake is. It fell out of the pocket of one of my pupils about 2 years ago. As it was an old mobile, he said not to worry about it so I did not, but ever since then, there has been a rattle every time the car was driven. At first I ignored it but it gradually annoyed me more and more. Every time the car was on the move, I promised myself to remove that phone but always forgot as soon as I switched the engine off. But this afternoon, as I was a bit bored, I decided to remove the bloody thing and now it's gone. Remains to be seen if the rattle has gone too when I go out later.
I know where my now ex-pupil works so I will give it back to him next time I am passing..... may be in two years time?

I thought this was going to be another story about sink holes.
Quite honestly, if your car has a hole in the floor big enough to allow a phone to fall through, I think a sink hole could have provided the ideal solution. It could have saved you from the annoying rattle, saved you the bother of raking out the 'phone, and saved you the bother of finding this ex schoolboy who clearly had more money than sense.
OTOH, it will be interesting to see if this young man is now exceedingly rich, or down on his uppers.

The hole is actually the slot where the handbrake is .

He is busy consulting M'Learned Friends about the dreadful, dreadful things that happened to him on that short journey in the vehicle of someone he thought he could trust. So dreadful, in fact, that every detail is buried away in his memory and can only be recovered when he has had a good look round T'Interweb to see what allegations are favoured by the Press. ;)
