Andrew Ritchie, inventor of the Brompton, gave a talk at Brompton Junction last night, telling the story of the bike from initial idea to current day. Absolutely superb!

A really amazing story of setbacks and breakthroughs, disappointments and reboots. Quite scary to realise how many times the project could have ended. And Mr Ritchie is a compelling story-teller, modest and brutally honest in equal measure.

If you ever have a chance to hear him speak, I highly recommend it.

Yes, he gives a good talk. There's a some videos of him on YouTube speaking:

Did he say anything about when the electric version will be ready? They're getting a bit left behind.

He said something to the effect of 'any day now – just like for the past few years.' :-)

At the Brompton Junction talk, he had a more appreciative audience: they had to persuade him to stop talking after about 1h 15m. :-)
