I can't warm to him but I can't help wanting a Brit to win. He would be unbearably smug if he won a grand slam but maybe being the first man to do so since Fred Perry would earn him the right.

And he wins again. Anybody know what time the final is on Sunday?

Sportsmen are just not what they used to be. There are too many bounders and rif raff in sport who have no personality and just win things. We need more public school boys who lose gallantly with a nice smile and lots of encouragement for the opposition. After all as nanny said 'it is taking part that counts'.

Murray has beaten Federer at least twice. But I agree if both players are performing at their very best Federer will win.

Actually BC. Murray has beaten Federer 6 times and only lost 4 (although of course never in a major)

Also Virginia Wade was the last Brit to win a major (1977). Sue Barker won the French in 1976

Sorry about that boring interlude...come on Andy!

+1, Go Murray!

Just a thought on the comments on his "miserable" personality - do you all know AM was at Dunblane Primary School when a gunman attacked it in 1996 killing 16 and injuring 14 of his class mates / teachers.

Hating him "just" for being miserable seems a bit short-sighted / misinformed / insensitive, surely?

Being quoted as saying he supports any football team playing against England wasn't exactly clever but he was very young then.

He was joking! I think his rather dry wit wrongfoots quite a few.

He did actually laugh(strangely) when he said it, I think it was a poor attempt at a joke after being asked a football question at a tennis match.

He then retracted it on his website - when he realised it had offended people(and a lot of Scot's were annoyed by it too).

I like the fact that he isn't remotely conventionally charismatic. I don't want the world to be populated by identikit permatanned, perfect-smiling uncontroversial clones? This is sport not a beauty contest...
