Federer was obviously the better player today but i think Murray showed true grit. When being interviewed post match he was in tears, showing true emotion for the first time. Think he's going to be a true champion in the future.

What are your opinions on the match, murray as a person? His prospects?

match - murray was thrashed hands down,
murray - Seems to have grown up a lot, I respect him now
prospects - he has to win a grand slam

Seeing Fed's performance the other day, I thought Murray would need to be on top form today. Unfortunately, his first serve didn't pick up early enough in the match, and though he mixed his shots up well, Fed had time to settle against Murray's second serve.

A fair result I think. Maybe the day will come when Murray produces his best tennis in a final - that, I think, is what he needs to do, as anything less against the likes of Fed isn't going to win him the title.

I don't normally watch tennis, but did so this morning to see how Murray would get on. I was quite impressed by his play, although Federer was superior, Murray gave it a good go and should be a contender for a big win in the near future.

I'm not a huge tennis fan but it's a pleasure to watch such an outstanding player as Federer. I can't think of anyone in any other sport at the moment who just radiates such class.

Hasn't Murray still beaten him 6 out of 11 times? I'm sure he will beat him again, but only when Federer is having a 90% day.

Lendl ........! Which decade did he dominate tennis?

Who's Alas?

You forgot : Bijorn Borg, Michael Schmacher, Tiger Woods, the Williams Sisters, Lance Armstrong, Eddie Merckx, Michael Phelps, Haile Gabrselassie, Mohammed Ali, Stephen Hendry to name but a few.

I heard the Scotsman Murray lost .

Sounds like he was given a lesson by the Master.

At least he was generous in defeat. Havng beaten Nadal (or Nadal retired more correctly) he probably really fancied his chances this year.

Hopefully Murray will have his day but Federer is really in another class than anybody else. A good bet for a Grand Slam this year?

Can't see Nadal winning a major again give his injuries.

It's the up & coming youngsters such as Del Potro you have to watch.
