Annual mileage target? Not gonna make it?

I made my target back of last year's distance (5,500km) back in July, so upped it to first 8,000km which I achieved back in September, then to 10,000km. Was well on the way to making it passed 11,000km and then... Well I think you know the story. It will now need a miracle to complete the remaining 934km I need just too make 10,000km.
Next year.

Approaching perfection from a distance.
Target has been 5000 for the last 3 years. Currently on 4407 road miles, so I'm hoping the weather stays fairly placid between now and the New Year. If not, I'll just have to include the 322 turbo miles, although I'm reluctant to do so!

Plan was to do the same as last year. 2013 was 6,350km. To date I'm at 5,400km so I'm not going to make it. A combination of my work being a bit more busy this year and mrs nickyboy booking more hols it seems

Plan was to break 5000 miles but two chest infections and a broken rib in the past couple of months has put the kybosh on that! Currently 3,900

I was hoping for 5000 miles, I've just gone over 4000 due to 8 weeks off the bike back in the summer. Still I've done more than last year when I spent most of the weekends in the summer decorating the house.

Joined here earlier this year so I'm new to this stuff but it makes an interesting read, especially folks' honesty.
I may well set myself a target next year and 3000 miles feels like a sensible figure. I think that'll be challenge enough given other demands on my time. Mind, I am planning End to End in May so that'll have a considerable effect.
Good luck to you all.

Will you two get a grip for goodness sake. It's MILES!

EDIT: The clue is in the title 'Annual mileage target'......

That's me (see below). Annual target of 3,000 miles, that's my usual. Have usually made it and then some to spare... this year, various months (and for various reasons) have been pretty bad cycling-wise, I've done much less cycling to work, no touring, and it's now clear I'm not gonna make it...
but, so the pressure's off

i know it's an arbitrary target, and I set it myself... it's good to have a target sometimes.

So, join me here and revel in the fact that though you aren't going to make your target, you've enjoyed the cycling you HAVE done.
(or gloat, if you must)

Maybe you should ask Miss Goodbody to move further away.

My target was about 5000 following the last two years with over a month knocked out with surgery. I'm going to beat the last two years but yet again, weekend rides have been curtailed with on going issues of surgery. Lost three weeks in July then another 2 weeks in September following being run over. At least this year I have been on the bike in October and November. The previous two I'd been recovering from surgery.

If I get the right treatment soon I should be flying by New Year.

I was on target until the beginning of October, but now I might struggle to make my 2000. I was a couple of hundred miles over last year.
No real excuse (i.e. no injuries, unlike others above), just recent laziness! But will still try to get as close as possible!
Don't have any mileage targets, but to join in the collective failure thread; I set off for Italy in May and it all went pear shaped big time in Spalding, then gave the whole cycling thing up for about four months. (including CC and nobody missed me )

Anyway, bikes dusted down and back on the road, and with my newly designed seasonal / monthly roads to do map LINK - I reckon I will never need to venture out of my beloved borders again ^_^ - so with that big blue sky we have today I'm off to fill in some roads between Hawick and Selkirk on the Autumn map.
The map is quite cool, you even ventured to sunny Fife ;)
