Completed the build with the addition of some new toe clips and straps. This 1975 model will be 40 years old next year, and isn't looking too shabby.

Yes I know the shorty mudguards are pretty useless, but they simply cry out 1970s when I see them fitted, just as I remember them as a 10 year old. Brilliant stuff.

Think I have a GB stem taken from a 77 bike and some nice black Weinmann covers. I'll try to dig them out and take some pictures if your interested.

Yes sounds promising. I used what I had kicking around, the stem was too good not to use, as you say a GB component would be better in terms of 'getting the look right'. Same with the hoods!

Here's the GB stem. Haven't taken it off the bars yet. It came from a 77 raleigh record ltd

I finally was able to get this out for a test ride today. Felt smooth, light and responsive. A real joy to ride. Just for the record, this is a 22" Corsa built summer 1975, it has 5-speed Huret Svelto gears with a 24-tooth rear block. Saddle is a Wrights W3N, brakes Wienmann 999s, alloy RM19 rims. GB bars and alloy hoods, stem will be replaced with a GB component soon. Sakae alloy seat post (a departure form the usual steel type). Raleigh steel, cottered 3-pin detachable chainset. The frame is finished in polychromatic aqua green, Crepsera lugs lined out with gold and added black contrasting panels.
