Very sad and Cambridge has lost two very bright young women in a week.

But to put it in perspective, although two cyclists will on average die every week on the UKs roads and it is two too many, there will be ~20 million cycle journeys made in that week. My daughters have had two of their friends die but both as passengers/drivers of a motor vehicle and not as cyclists.

Whilst the death of the girl in your above link as a result of an RTA, she was a passenger in a car, is also terribly sad as well, she was NOT cycling. It just reinforces the view that the roads are a dangerous place whether on a bike or in a car. However one is far more likely to be killed whilst cycling than whilst travelling as a passenger in a car. But I didn't start this thread to have yet another pointless arguement about road death stats and that roads are not dangerous spat with you which is what you seem to love. I posted this to let the forum know that sadly another cyclist has lost their life as it doesn't yet seem to have received a mention on here.

I would not expect the driver of the car to be injured.

A sad event. No idea how it happened. Blame cannot be appointed until the investigation is completed.

Leave Red Light alone! His posts are statistically consistent with the relevant gathered data statistically proven to be 99.9% accurate in cases where statistics are thought to prove the facts indisputably.
I know this because I've been told by him many times that I'm a chicken on a bike, but not to worry, with time I'll forget my fears, boldly challenging black cabs for my road rights!

Poor girl, never mind who's fault it was, who cares about statistics, she's dead, somebody will miss her dearly, others will stop cycling on the roads because of her death.
