well surely this answers those recent posts about not wearing a helemt:

"The man, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, suffered a double fracture of the skull and his condition is still said to be serious."

With some of the road safety some cyclists engage in, i'm hardly surprised there is not more.

And so another flipping helmet thread is born.

I hope the original cyclist recovers - sad. I wonder if the silver BMW driver was late for his meeting and whether he considered what he did while he at the meeting or just airbrushed out of his conscience. Perhaps, he might start to sweat when he reads the local press and then have to go out tonight to wash the car and T cut out the damage. I wonder how long it will be on his mind - 5 minutes or 5 years - tosser.

he will prob blame it on the credit crunch and get off scot-free.

ps, i wasn't suggesting the cyclist in question was a bad cyclist, but there are so many out who are a danger to themselves. Fingers crossed for him.

Christ that's terribly sad.

It's not all about helmets, motorists don't help either.

I wear a helmet and hi-viz for personal preference and im no longer going to dictate whether people should wear these or not. It's their choice.;)

It’s a fairly new road layout where the accident happened – just a few years old. Two lanes, with the inside lane a 24h bus lane. To the left of the bus lane there are several recessed parking bays – there are several left hand turns as well. To get to the parking bays or turn left, cars have to cross the bus lane. There have been numerous complaints from residents, cyclists and motorists about the layout and possible dangers to cyclists.
The council put in lots of bus lane cameras to police bus lane infringements, and there have been several, IMHO quite justified, complaints from drivers who have received tickets for entering the bus lane when turning left or parking – you have to cross the bus lane right at the very last second or you are fined.
When reading this today in the paper it upset me that it seems that the cctv manages to capture drivers who infringe the bus lane but not those who run over cyclists. Maybe I’m wrong and the footage is there and they are just waiting for more witnesses, but it seems unlikely that they have the accident on film and haven’t mentioned it.

Yet another cyclist left for dead during a rush hour hit and run on my commute – f u c k i n g BMW drivers.

http://www.richmondandtwickenhamtim...ts_for_his_life_after_Twickenham_hit_and_run/

Oi you f u c k i n g cyclist I drive a BMW so I guess next time I'm in London driving i'll be on the look out for a cyclist to hit??

Sorry someone was hurt, cyclist or not but stop thinking you are the king of the road, when we all have to pay road tax then we will have equal rights, till then we hope that drivers will give us room, sometimes accidents happen, and some times things happen intentionally but no amount of bitching on here will change anything, get a life!

OK rant over, and all my thoughts and wishes are with the injured cyclist and his family and I truly hope he pulls through and the idiot who drove off rather than face their mistake is caught and has the book thrown at them

Frankly that's beneath contempt.

NOBODY PAYS ROAD TAX. FFS when will people understand this.

I pay VED for my car just like you (I hope). It's totally irrelevant in this case (unless the hit and run driver did not have a valid licence, insurance etc. and that's why he ran...)

Bicycles do not need VED, we do not need permission or a licence to be on the road, we are there by right. We probably have more right to be on the road because we don't have to pay for the privilidge unlike drivers.
We should not "hope" that drivers give us room, they should under the Highway code, which is the law IIRC.

Causing injury whether intentionally or through neglect is still an offence in this country.
Failing to stop at an accident is also an offence IIRC. Not only that it's morally and humanly wrong.

There's a man fighting for his life thanks to somebodies actions whether intentional or accidental. As vunerable road users that makes us angry and sympathetic to his plight, a little bitching here 'cos of anger and frustration is OK in those circumstances. "Get a life"... FFS ;)

Stereotyping I agree is pretty lame, as is being personally insulting. Generally I refrain from such things, but after reading your post I feel obliged to make an exception. As a BMW driver you are a credit to your car-badge having demonstrated yourself to be a complete and utter self-centred tosser.

I get this attitude in the messroom from the motorists.I don't pay road tax so I don't have the right to be on the road apparently.

Are these two written by the same person?! That first half is just contemptuous.
