some of you may have seen me talk about millie (my fiancee) and also of a bike i've been building for her,

well, finally finished it today and met her at the large park on the edge of town with it (she didn't know)

she's been mountain biking with me for over a year now but scared of the skinny wheels and the drop bars of a road bike.

after two laps round the park to get used to wispa (named due to the purple colour i'd painted the frame) we ventured onto the road for the short ride back to her house.

by the end of the ride she looked like she used the bike all the time to get about and had done her first 4 miles on a road bike.

I just need to shorten the chain and stop the mudguards rubbing

so proud of her and really really happy

And the missus on it... ha ha just so we can make an executive decision as to whether she suits a purple bike, and top up the girls in lycra thread.

lycra is a big no no (i don't wear it, she won't wear it)

however she did suggest doing the london to brighton next year! ;)

with regard to how she felt, at first i got a look of "what have you done?" followed by uncertainty and then a happy smiley millie-moo after she'd ridden it.

too late to upload pics tonight, might try for one or two of her riding it tomorrow

Another West Mids rider !!

Well done, hope she loves it.

indeedy,

anyone know of some good, quiet (traffic wise) rides in and around coventry to take her on?

could do with some longer ones than just biking to church on a sunday or to the pub etc but don't want busy roads - she'll cope with them, but needs to settle into how wispa handles.

Don't know that part of the world, but i've got a tour book with a 32 mile Cov ride, sure that could be chopped up to suit, looks like it goes out to Balsall Common, i can do you a copy if you like.
