Slight variation on the theme yesterday .. I was in the car, "proceeding in an Easterly direction" along an A road (60 limit job) when I noticed a couple of roadies in the distance, going the same way as me. I could also see a procession of cars coming the other way, headed by a learner, and could tell that I was going to catch up with the two bikes just as the procession was going past.
So I slowed down ready to wait behind the bikes. Then a Porsche about 3 cars back in the procession behind the learner decided that he must overtake the learner. He can't possibly have been able to see what was coming the other way .. cos I didn't have a clear view of him 'til he was on the wrong side of the road.
Maybe he'd spotted the bikes and just thought "ah well, it's only bikes" but I'm pretty sure he hadn't spotted me .. he seemed rather surprised to see a car coming towards him in support of the bikes, anyway. Still, loads of screaming engine and he just about managed to barge past the learner who'd had to slow down. I'd more or less stopped by this point and the two poor sods in front were diving for cover as well.
Just glad I'd slowed down for the bikes .. would have been interesting had they not been there, in which case I'd have still been barrelling along at 60 or so.
