Another HGV Accident?

Woburn Place closed this evening, c17:00, from Russell Sq south to Vernon Place. HGV stoppped about halfway along with green MTB down at nearside front. Police accident investigators in atttendance.

Any one seen news coverage (a quick search of BBC returns nowt)?

Gaz, it's listed as Southampton Row on a thread on lfgss "rider down". Does not sound good though - hope the rider pulls through.

Checking Bing it is in fact Southampton Row at that point - my mistake.

Not a turning issue this time as the road's dead straight from Russell Sq to Theobald's Rd and no junctions on left.

I know this junctiuon well and walked past the scene last night. I did not see what happened but there are often cars turning right up Gt Russell St and vehicles have to move across to the left lane to pass the turning cars - my guess is that the cyclist was on the inside.

After finding myself on the inside of a coach on one of my first commutes which came across withouth warning I vowed never to find myself on the left of a large vehicle. My journey takes five minutes longer but it is so much less stressful and safer.
