Pass this road every day, full of 4x4s and German 'exec cars', complete with poor driving.

Yeah seems alot of people especially women who get these large vehicles for their huge families of 'two kids' are extremely dangerous as they cannot judge the size of the beast.

Yep, it just says "accident". It doesn't say what with what or by whom or against whom or if anyone did any kind of running away from something they may or may not have done!

How do we know, for example, that he didn't have an unfortunate encounter with a pothole, followed by a lamp post?

Yeah fair comment, but riding this route every day i know where my money would be on.
The roads around there are used by a lot of club riders due to the hills, and a lot of Corsa driving idiots due to the lack of police, not a happy mix.
Hope i'm wrong.
