I had a similar problem when choosing a bike for my son. He was at the limit for his cnoc 16 and I was not sure if he would be tall enough for the Beinn 20 large and didn't want to buy the small for it to last only a few months. But, I went for the large and he is tall enough for it. How much seat post have you got left on the cnoc 16? If it is at the top then I would think he should be ok on the large Beinn 20.

Anyway, you know you will buy the Islabike it is just down to either second hand or brand new. I chose brand new in both cases as there really wasn't much difference in price and there were no second hand ones within a reasonable distance. You could probably get one off ebay and sell it a year from now for about the same price.

You already know this, but they're the best kids bikes by miles, and they keep their value and sell on incredibly easily.

On the other hand a longer seat post on the Cnoc might bridge the gap for you? Tricky one this.

A bit late but:
You can fit a longer seat post to the Cnoc 16 (original is 200mm long). Your Beinn has, I believe, a 250mm long post.
My daughter has a 490 inside leg, so should be ok (on her Cnoc 16) according to the specs; but has her seat set high & has run out of post.
If not then Islabikes will sell, with some prompting, a 250mm post for a very reasonable £8 plus a not so reasonable £5 for postage. But it did arrive less than 24 hours later.
If the reach is too long on the Large Beinn: how about turning the seat post round & then pushing the saddle as far back as possible, tempoarily? I am not sure what this would do to the peddle / seat alignment & whether the head angle would allow. But looks as though it might be ok on the pictures.
