Bought this yesterday..supposedly an ex race bike from Rufus WH Meachers race team. It's 531c through out, nice quality wheels and a smattering of campag. It has loads of numbers on the BB shell but none anywhere else. Anyone know anything about the Meachers race team or the bike?

Not the sort of thing I would have raced on BITD, it has room for mudguards There could be a postcode somewhere on that BB stamping?

I think you are right so43pa. It would make sense it came from Southampton

Nice, but I doubt very much it's a race bike with that geometry.

I'm inclined to agree. It rides like a tourer or maybe a winter trainer. Nice frame though. I guess I'll.never find out who made it though.

The top eye decoration is the same as my 1978-79 Harry Quinn. Pop off the BB cable guide and see if there is a number prefixed by a "Q" made from a 0 and 1 stamped over each other.

Is there a lost of bike boulders still building in the late 70s/ early 80s so.i can start ruling some builders out and create a shortlist of possible builders?

Is the 7 the start of the frame number or the 0?

Was expecting a letter, not a number, which would have me leaning towards a Raleigh.
