"Large queues built up along Bawtry Road all the way back to the M18 roundabout and further along in the direction of Maltby, where motorists were unaware of the tragedy"
This seems to me to be a spectacularly pointless piece of reporting.... Like if they'd known, they'd all have stayed at home weeping, instead of joining the long queues...
Does sound like a very unpleasant road to be on on a bike.
Its not that bad a road. Busy yes, but its not one for close passes etc. and a nice wide bus/cycle path. More of a problem for peds wanting to cross. However where it happened there's been a footbridge for the last 30 years.
Looks like, as mentioned in the readers comments after the article, that he wasn't riding a bike.
The bike belonged to a teacher. The accident happened infront of him, so he threw his bike down and tried to help. Journos put 2 and 2 together and got 5. The free local papers have started coming through the door this evening and they've still got it wrong.
