Some years ago around Penrith,Culgaith area I think, cyclists were warned to beware a bird of prey which, when in a particularly bad humour would swoop upon cyclists from behind, talons bared. At first I assumed this to be another rural myth, however it proved not to be when a tourist, unaware of the story, fell victim.Quite a mess by all accounts. Now,flippantly, you might say this an argument for helmets as all the victims seem to have baldies[like me] however it must have been a scary experience to say the least, middle of nowhere, blood running down your face, and who on earth is going to believe you?Thankfully the attacks ended as abruptly as they began. Now all we worry about are big cats and The Great Bat Of Renwick.[Google it]
