Two winters ago I would meet a very large badger on the bath to Bristol cycle path quite regularly. It would normally see my lights and scarper back into the hedgerow. One morning it was obviously in a bad mood and stopped what it was doing so I also stopped about 30 feet away. It then turned and charged at me which certainly got the heart pumping. I have also been buzzed by lots of bats and once had a barn owl follow me for a while.

on another occasion I saw a flock of seagulls flying across the motorway, one of which collided with a trucks trailer and literally exploded, feathers went flying everywhere but other than the feathers there was no trace left of the bird. I saw no body fall to the road or any remains on the truck when I passed it, just a red bloody splodge on the trailers side.
Not for the faint hearted - Boxster v's Pigeon

I live in the middle of nowhere, so i've hit birds, rabbits, hare, rodents of all kinds. What amazes me is that how stupid pheasants and pigeons are compared to crows and the like. A crow will pretty much always get out of the road well before the car is near, even if it's feasting on the remains of something really tasty (like the stupid pheasant that didn't move out of the way). However, pigeons have to be the dumbest birds on the planet and will invariably just wander around in the middle of the road with no concept of preserving their own lives.

As much as i hate hitting stuff, my most memorable was similar to a previous poster. I was being tailgated by a guy in a white BMW coming from a single track road onto a dual track. I moved into the outside lane to overtake at about 70mph (ish) in my Honda S2000 with the BMW driver just feet from my rear. Its amazing how much a full sized male pheasant gets mashed up when it goes underneath a car with a low ride height. The BMW driver learned a lesson that day (actually, i doubt he did). His car turned a nice shade of red after the incident.

Hit a bird(dunno what it was but it was big) riding down a sliproad on my (now gone)R1;was just doing a last check for traffic and while starting to 'make progress' and turning my head back whatever it was smacked me on the side of my lid and shoulder, luckily didn't come off but i eneded up with a big head-ache and damaged(but repairable)Arai lid.

I've had a bird bounce of the screen and lay flapping where it landed, unfortunately straight in front of a couple of little girls walking to school.
I've also had a rock chucked at my screen by a self-gratification artist on a motorway bridge. It hit the bonnet first then took out the screen.
