You'll also find (if policy hasn't changed) that your cancellation will go on a 30-day notice - in case you change your mind (or they can talk you into staying on some sort of "deal").

I am embarrassed to admit that I once worked in one of their call centres. In my defence, I only lasted 3 weeks; it was among the worst jobs I have ever done. A bunch of shysters and I wouldn't pay a cent for their crap product.
I want to cancel the contract.

Their website tells me to email them notice.

I email them notice.

Three days later I get an email back saying that I need to ring them, and that if I don't they'll assume that I've changed my mind and want to continue the contract.
Email is a secondary form of communication...call them! :-)

They want you to call so that they can spend ages trying to convince you to stay.

I'm afraid to say it worked for me - although I didn't mind as I really didn't want to leave and I got a fancy new Sky+HD box out of it ...

30 days for TV, 14 days for phone and broadband. Which is a pain, because I now have to remember to call them again in January to cancel the rest of my Sky package (I just left them for VM)

I am about to cancel my Sky and go to BT Fibre with their TV package.
Can anyone tell me what happens to the 2nd Sky box in my bedroom, will it automatically become a freesat box

I'd advise watching or exporting any recordings you have before you cancel. My understanding is that once the subscription ends so does your ability to view the recorded content on your box.

Not quite Freesat, just able to watch the free to air channels on Sky.

Didn't work on me as the channels I was mostly watching on Sky were all available on Freeview.

One of the problems of living in Hull is that we don't have BT lines. Hull has it's own municipally owned phone company (Kingston Communications) so we can't get VM or any other Internet / cable / media services that require you to have a BT line. It's the only City in the country that has it's own phone company, so I'm often having to explain to people (who call to sell us such services) that even if I wanted to subscribe, I can't.
