Get some ego grips, the round ones are horrid. Specialized are good or get the more expensive ergon ones with bar. Ends for more hand positions
Almost all, but check that they're for your handlebar diameter, which is probably 22.2mmThanks for the suggestion. Silly question but are they all universal?

About the scraping brakes: you may have picked up grit on the pads which has gouged out metal from the rim which is now scratching along. Some pad makes are worse than others for that.
Sounds like half odds couldn't be bothered to clean the pads.
You could just clean the pads.Oh dear. If it carries on I'll take it back in.
I'd check it over but that's just me (In God We Trust: All Others Bring Data). Worst case, shops are held responsible for their builds (unless you tell them not to bother, which is a bit silly even if they're no good). My OH joked saying "Your bike will probably fall apart now she's built it".
