I have a Garmin Oregon 400t Sat Nav for the bike which I think communicates wirelessly via ANT+ (never heard of it till I Googled just now). I've only ever used my computer USB port to talk to the Garmin. My "smart" Samsung/Android phone does Bluetooth (as well as WiFi). Is it possible to get them talking? Is there a cable that might work? Or what do I need to do?

Techy numptie here. Simple words might work (and linkies might help too)

TIA

You should be able to connect to your phone using a USB OTG cable.

For wireless comms the thing you're looking for is called an 'ANT+ to Bluetooth Bridge'. BUT - they're not common, not especially cheap and tend to be limited in what they can translate. If I had to do it, I'd go the cable route.

Thanks both. I'll seek the cable first I think. Although the Garmin has a "not USB" connector (I have a USB to Garmin cable). The phone has some sort of connector and I have a phone to USB cable. Seems I need to bone up on connector types.

BTW - my main thinking is to transfer gpx files. Phone -> Garmin

As long as your Garmin acts as a mass storage device you should be able to use the file manager on the phone to copy a file to the device.

The Garmin looks like a mass storage device to my computer so that sounds good. I now need to find the file manager on the phone.

Seems the connectors I need are micro USB (phone) and mini USB (Garmin). Ordered from Amazon now :okay:

Actually Amazon were a pain on this so I've pushed the boat out and ordered one from China via ebay for the vast sum of £0.99

So in about 2 weeks time when it arrives I'll probably holler for the "why isn't it working?" question

Well the cable came and it seems to plug in properly. But nothing..... can't find the extra "storage device" on the phone. Any thoughts out there?

I got in touch with Garmin and they said I'd need to go via a PC. That was what I was trying to avoid.
