Things seem to have settled down for the time being after bleeding air out of the system. However, I noticed today that water from the hot taps is a light brown colour. All cold taps (including taps fed from the header tank) are clear, it's just water from the hot taps that's discoloured. I'm wondering therefore whether water from the heat exchanger is leaking into the hot water cylinder. Alternatively might the water discolouration be realated to having to use the immersion heater for a week while waiting for the boiler to be replaced? (note: the immersion heater had previously only been used a couple of times in 20 years).
Our hot water cylinder is coved by a homecare agreement, but I would appreciate your opinions before British Gas arrive to look at the problem. Many thanks.
