Any decent music download sites to recommend?

I've been using Spotify without any problem for a year or so and downloaded loads of tracks, but suddenly they seem to have stopped allowing downloads (which seems a bit odd- or at least I can't see the 'download' button anymore!). I have tried Napster and couldn't work it out at all, as well as Bear Share which looked a little dubious and the sound quality was awful.

I have Apple iTunes, but can't figure out how to get songs onto my (Windows) music library for transfer to ipod- there must be an easier way- dragging tracks across from iTunes doesn't work!

Are there any simple, cheap alternatives to recommend that even a relatively computer illiterate like me can figure out?

NTL downloads is a good site and its free and download transfer manager to get them on your I phone all free but do not update your I phone under settings it will wipe them off

Yes that's what I get- for a company that makes its money from music downloads, it strikes me as an unusual business decision !
