Any farmers on here? Do you own a broom?

+1 This is the only thing that makes me :cursing: at the farming community.

The hawthorn hedge down the road has just been cut and same as every year since this section of road was built, no attempt has been made to clear up.

I've complained. If it's not cleared this week I may as well do it myself.

If you do, please could you sweep the road after you've butchered the hawthorn hedges surrounding your fields?

Thank you.

and I thought that was what cyclist tires were for. Catching all the thorns in our tyres to save the farmer some time/money.

Looking forward to the return of the slurry season :-)

It's here at the moment. A local farmer takes to herding his cows down the local cycle route and through the underpass. Does he clean the mud/slurry away, does he bollocks.

It's currently more than an inch deep and slippery a, well shoot.

Ooh, didn't think that one would get through the filter!

My village has the summer route for Sustrans running through it, last winter it was churned up to a point it was unrideable, the nice farmers then topped it with road shavings and glass, sharp glass at that and loads of it.

As for sweeping up after the hedge cutting and mud spreading, no way as that would cost them fuel.

Yes typical around here is to leave it all over the roads and the same applies to mud, manure and straw that litter the roads at certain times of the year. I know they have to make a living but fitting a guard to the flail they use for the hedges to avoid spreading the cuttings all over the road is not rocket science, although it may be beyond their limited intelligence.
