If so, what do they call you/how do they address you ??
Reason for asking........
I have 3 grandchildren and they all call me granddad** (probably a few other names when I'm not listening  ).
My eldest one and partner are discussing having a child which would be my great grandchild.
I am wondering what this child would/should call me
**funny story.......the eldest, when a little boy couldn't pronounce granddad and I became gwandrad. The 2nd one learned of him, then the 3rd. 30 years later and they still jokingly refer to me as gwandrad.

Never knew my Great Grandad, but I used to call one of my granddad's, "Pop".

Our grand children likewise, never knew our parents, but one of them was known as "Gaga", by our daughters.

I'm not a great grandad yet but, I'm surprised given my eldest granddaughter is 21 and in a long term relationship. I was brought up to call my great grandad, great grandad apparently, I was about 5 or 6 when I lost both of them. My great grandma's were always called great grandma's so I'm expecting the same to be honest. The thought of being a great grandad at nearly 60 isn't appealing though.

I'm great grandad to two brothers, one is only 5 and while we see them sporadically, there's been no real convention, we don't really see them long enough to build a deeper rapport plus we they do visit, they just play with our grand daughters of similar ages who live with us. It's fine, nothing wrong, just the way it is.

The youngest ggs is less than 3 and we all suspect is possibly autistic he's barely spoken a word so that's that.

Tbf I think when he does call me it's grandad, he calls his proper grandad grandpa

And as I was writing that, it occured to me our youngest grandaughter is 4, our oldest great grandson is 5. Is that unusual, I can't quite get my head around it ?

When I was a kid there was a family down the street where a girl was a year older than another in the family who was her Auntie

Granddad is far more likely than them addressing you as Great Granddad... it's a bit of a mouthful.

I'm not a great granddad but my parents are... they're nana and grandad to the gt. grandkids. My sister insists on being called grandma because she thinks she's a cut above.

I have 3 grandkids but all are too young to have kids yet
but they all call me Pops - when the youngest was born I had only just become a "fixture" with her gran so the previous husband seemd to have first claim on the grandad name
apparently he is referred to as Grandad Phil - on the rare occasions when they see him

The other grandfather is Granddad

They did have a Great Grand Mother - or the younger 2 did - and they referred to her as Nanny

It didnt really matter what I called my Great Grandad, he was stone deaf.

More sensibly, my gran lived to almost 106, she had several great grandchildren, all of whom referred to her as Gran Nelly (indeed as did everyone in the family). They called my Mum (their gran) Gran Mary, so the "Great" was very much unnecessary.

2nd aside when I was quite young I was introduced to my Great Great Aunt Laura. I told her she must be very old to be a great great Aunt!
