Mountaneer has disk brakes though. Thia bike has V brakes.

I think it may be a Wolverine. Here is a post somewhere that talks about it.

The paintjob and overall look matches. Al also talks about SR Suntour M 7600 fork which is what I have. The year is 2000 which is consistent with my timeframe.
Interestingly I bought it in 2001 all beat up, scratched and completely worn breaks. It must have had a hell of a year!

Certainly a Wolverine. I located remnants of a "W" on one side of the frame where the name would be.
Btw, they used this frame on Scramblers as well. Just found a local ad for one.
