Any Kabanos fanciers out there?

I'm ashamed to say that I usually just chomp on the usual fare supplied by the supermarket but recently felt brave enough to buy a packet from a Polish shop.

They were in a bag labelled Mistrz Antosik and are a delicious smoked offering.

Are there any others that I should be looking out for?

I'm ashamed to say - I had to google  now I know what it is

Lidl sell them. I rarely buy them now as I am on cholesterol watch and I have a feeling the sat fat levels may be erm on the high side.

They kind of remind me of peperami

Merguez but they're very difficult to get hold of here. Common in France though. Mrs Decorator is Czech so she tends to know where to get those sort of sausages. Kabanos are nice. They do a spicier one also you've just reminded me that I've got a couple in the freezer. So thats breakfast tomorrow sorted then.
Couple that with the chille I'm having tonight and it will be deep breaths and gasps on the toilet in the morning. I always have to divide the batch before adding the spices and chillies. I get the hot one.

I usually have a pack of PEK Polish kabanos on the go. Mind you the packs are a bit on the big side (1.3 Kg for £13) so I pass some out to the in-laws before they dry out too much.

I am an old face in my local Polish shop! I am spoilt for choice, living near both Southampton and Portsmouth, both of which have large immigrant populations. We have Polish, Indian, Chinese, Thai, Turkish and Romanian shops! Flippin' marvelous.

If you get the chance, try Silesian sausage and Sauerkraut (I can't remember the Polish name for it) from the Polish shop. Gorgeous!

Fnarr, you might like to know that I used to be a sausage-packer

Worked in a factory in Bletchley, packing kabanos (and mini cheese-kabanos) when I was but a young girl.

Our Polish food shop and Aldi sell them, and I will indulge now and then.

Aldi or Lidl often do a range of dried sausage, akin to Peperami, but the Co-Op and Sainsbury have started selling Kabanos.... great snack, esp if you are avoiding carbs.

I like most of the Polish meat products, they seem to have a particular talent in this area.

We can teach them a thing or two about pies though! ( Meant to be a licking it's lips smiley).
