Militaria collecting is a finite hobby- and one that seems pretty minuscule to the untrained eye.
Are there any other collectors here on Cycle Chat? ^_^
( Examples of Militaria (UK) )- Deactivated weapons, live weapons ( subject to licence(s) ), knives, bayonets, swords, badges, uniforms, helmets, vehicles, ammunition ( subject to licences (unless inert) ) etc etc)
Pictured is my deactivated Walther P38, dated 1944.:gun:

I've got a Star Trek phaser (deactivated) does that count?

I've got a mate with an working AK47. Folding stock and silencer.
It only works to the extent that it fires airsoft pellets so it looks and feels like a real one but is somewhat less lethal (and legal). He did get it from a factory in Poland that makes them with the original tooling for the casing.

Johnsons isn't that far from me, & they sometimes have interesting items, such as the Ceremonial uniforms

L. Jacksons, at Misson, is another very (& indeed very) interesting place
Not just for the machinery, but the very fact that the sites name gives away its past; 'The Rocket Site'
It was the Bloodhound Missile site that protected RAF Finningley, & it still has a Bloodhound on its launch platform on-site!!

The launch pads are still in situ

The last time I rode past, there was a surprise for me, as the barrel of a Chieftain was poking through the hedges around the perimeter

Looks like a big vehicle surplus facility?

Saw an interesting item on the BBC website today concerning a chap in Bristol who bid for,and found he had bought, a Scorpion armoured vehicle.Consequently,he has had to move to a larger house in order to park it!Sounds just the thing for me,though I have been strongly advised not to dabble by SWMBO.

A friend of mine, who has had a few trucks & tractors, was seriously considering a Thorneycroft ANTAR

He worked out though, that he'd have to buy the garden of the house opposite, to have space to swing it round, then knock down one of his own garages to get it down the driveway to his workshops (at the moment, it's more than wide enough to get a normal tractor unit down
