My situation.
I used to drive quite big cars e.g. Rover 75s/Volvo S60/Ford Mondeo..............these for comfort as I regularly did 200 miles plus in a day.
Now I have retired I got an Astra 1600. It's a nice enough car but I thought "something in-between might be nice".
BUT.............
It seems to me that all manufacturers go from Astra/Focus size to Insignia/Mondeo size.
Is that just my perception ?
Is there a manufacturer that does anything in-between ?

Are you looking at a newer car? if yes then how about getting a bigger engine with higher spec? Ive got an Astra elite 2.0 cdti and its a great car.
If your after something older the Vauxhall signum is in between the Astra and Vectra/Insignia.

BMW and Auto Union made aero engines for the Luftwaffe, but they tend to keep that quiet. VW used slave labour during manufacturing in WWII, including abandoning the babies of slaves to starve to death, which is bad enough, but then lied About it until the 1990s, whkch in its way is worse. They only came clean when the weight of evidence against them became too huge to ignore, and only then paid compensation to the survivors.

Many car companies have a shady past in some way, and WWII is a long time ago. However, the mid 90s is recent history so I won't own a VW group car no matter how good they may allegedly be.

I got some Peugeot pepper grinders, which are quite nice.
