in relation to the thread that was posted a few days ago with the crazy youtube video, i was wondering if any of you on here have been messengers?

im giving it a thought simply becuase it would be a okish way to earn money and at 16 there are simply no jobs avaible, 3 spaces in a garden center had 700 applicants.
thing is that i dont live in london, im in Reading which i dont think would be big enough for any bike messengers to exist... unless any of you have heard of anything?

Do the research. Set up on your own, start small and build up.

Why does a garden centre need bike messengers? Is it because they have a hosta things to deliver in a hurry?

I used to know one, his first name was Clem. I can't remember his surname......

Stop right there.

School bike?

You go to school?

You are out of circulation for six hours per day for 190 working days per year. Your usefulness as a cycle courier is seriously affected. You might need a rethink.

This really is the worst time imaginable to consider starting a courier business. I was after a messenger job this summer and even with only a handful of riders on the streets in Edinburgh there still wasn't enough work to go around apparently. Things might be slightly better in London but I doubt it.
