It was the 900

I spent the following 10 years wanting to be a pilot.

I never did, although I did get a weeks work experience with the Lynx and SeaKing squadrons at Portland Naval base when I was 14 (my uncle was commander flying at the time). Which was an amazing experience as I took the controls (for about 15 seconds) of a SeaKing on a search and rescue sortie over chesil beech! they also flew me over my house and school.

Nope after watching Crocodile Dundee and suffereing all the edits and cuts I coudn't bear to see what they would have done to Top Gun " Welcome to the risky zone"? "I feel the need the need for a quiet sit down!"?

I really do like the opening flight deck ops shots in this film. Another F14A Tomcat starring role I like is in the film Final Countdown, the scene where two F14's overfly a yacht at about 450 knots, then stand on their tails for an ear shattering climb out on reheat. Darned good!

A good drinking buddy of mine works upgrading steam turbines in power srations. He has the company issue hard hat with attached ear defenders. He's stenciled across the front the word 'Maverick' I love his joy of life,

I played the sound track album to death.
Love it.
