We have had a cleaner for the last year but I have given her notice as of Easter though she will still be doing the ironing. She only does an hours cleaning once a week which helped a lot but now I'm taking it back on

Very hard to obtain such luxuries in our little village.

We had a lovely cleaner some time back but she hurt her back badly (not whilst cleaning our house) and we have never managed to find another that will travel out to our village.

We've had three gardeners over the years but all moved on to other jobs and it has proved very hard to find a 4th.

And window cleaners, don't get me started on window cleaners they're always here today and gone tomorrow.

Small building jobs; no one wants to know.

The next two villages up from us have the same issues too.

My mother has a cleaner who comes in every week; she accepts no other help despite her failing health and memory loss, I've met the cleaner a few times and said if she wants to just come in a sit and chat then that's fine with me as I can always make sure I sort out the cleaning. She leaves me a note so I know what she has cleaned and what needs attention - I tend to leave a note saying "the stuff you left seems fine, just do it next week." This happens every week...

I reckon @Markymark probably has a cleaner he could recommend...only problem is they'd sound like they were straight out of 'Mary Poppins'..."Shoin yer shoos gavna?!", or something like that, would ring out around the house.

I am that gardener. I am able to charge decent rates and people genuinely show gratitude for my efforts. I am a grafter though. And I am on time and reliable. My invoices are emailed quickly and most clients pay me on time. I wear a uniform, don’t smoke, spit or swear. Most keep me on during the winter for fear (I am told) they will lose me to someone else. It feels good to be wanted. What a great job eh?

We have cleaners. It ensures that my wife cleans the house.

Now all we need is a tidier upper.

Oh and a maintenance person.

A plasterer.

And a decorator.

Re: dishwashers - I really don't see the point. By the time you've put everything in and emptied it out again you may as well have done the washing up. Really dirty burnt on curry pans need a soak anyway. And anyway my super duper copper pans shouldn't be done in the dishwasher, nor, obviously should good knives. Admittendly there'll only be a couple of knives used - but turn your back and some clown will have stuck em in the dishwasher
